When you become a member of NAPPS, you join a national organization whose purpose is to promote excellence in pet sitting and which acts as the voice for the industry. All members sign the Pledge of Professional Conduct when they initially join and each year as they renew, guiding them to run their businesses by the highest ethical standards.
NAPPS offers its membership ongoing professional development. It also provides educational resources for the pet owning public.
Every year, NAPPS produces an Annual Conference. The conference features presentations by renowned authorities in the pet care industry, as well as showcases the latest in pet services and products.
NAPPS' publications also keep members informed about industry trends and happenings. The organization publishes a quarterly magazine, The Professional Pet Sitter, as well as provides members with discounts on informative books and videos.
Members can also take advantage of NAPPS' resources. They include the Member Resource Library (accessible online), Monthly Webinars (featuring special speakers on a variety of pet related topics) and a Professional Pet Sitting Series webinar (which allow members to ask and receive answers about the issues facing their pet sitting businesses).
As a NAPPS member, you will be able to access group rates on liability and bonding, as well as health, dental, life and liability insurances.
Members are listed on the NAPPS online referral network, allowing pet parents to find a NAPPS pet sitter in their local areas.
The NAPPS Pet Sitter Education Program allows members to take a course in business management, animal care and pet health issues. After finishing the home study course, students take an examination and, when they pass, receive an Earned Certification in pet sitting.
NAPPS provides members with a variety of programs and tools to help make the business of pet sitting easier.
For those pet sitters who currently do not take credit cards, NAPPS offers two solutions (one for in-home businesses; the other for store fronts) as part of its Credit Card Processing Program.
Tools available to members include business forms, a downloadable NAPPS logo, sample press releases and press materials.
The NAPPS online Member Directory provides contact information on every NAPPS member.
Members network in person at the Annual Forum. The rest of the year, they interact using the NAPPS Chat Message Board, an online discussion group or by hosting a pre-approved local event to promote the organization and its mission. NAPPS is also active on Facebook, Twitter (@TheNAPPS), LinkedIn, Pinterest, and YouTube.
