Certification FAQs

How can I become NAPPS Certified?
Members can purchase the certification course in the Member's Area Features section under the "Online Learning" module. Non-Members can purchase the certification course by visiting the Non-Member Registration Area.

What is the cost of the Certification Course?
The cost of the Certification Course is $245 for members and $395 for non-members. Employees and IC's (Independent Contractors) of NAPPS member companies can purchase the course at a discounted rate of $125. The course for employees and ICs is only available after the company owner has been certified. Contact NAPPS directly for an application for ICs and employees.

What does the course include?
The course consists of pet care, health, nutrition and behavior, business development and management, and a complete pet first aid course.

How long will it take to complete the course?
The course is self-paced and should be completed within 4-6 weeks. Some pet sitters have completed the course in as little as a month. 

How will I learn the test results once I complete all the test questions?
Once you hit the final submit button on the online test, your test score will be provided nearly instantaneously.

What is the passing grade to earn certification?
A passing score of 75% must be achieved to earn certification and will be instantly posted to your profile on the Pet Sitter locater page. You will also qualify to receive an additional 10% discount on your insurance.

What if I do not earn a passing grade?
If you do not receive a passing grade, you may retake the test one additional time.

Will I be able to access the course once I've completed and submitted my test?
After you have passed, the exam portion of your certification will be closed. The certification reading materials are always available to members on the NAPPS website, in the Members’ Virtual Library.

How can I maintain my certification?
Individuals who earn certification will be certified for a period of three years. In order to renew your certification for an additional three years, please refer to the Re-Certification area for more details and the CEU section for a current list of CEUs that may be utilized. The certification team suggests that individuals begin work on obtaining CEUs soon after obtaining their certification.
